Fran's Final Magazine Advert
After doing my research, I used the same picture as my Cd cover, for the picture on the advert. I feel it keeps the continuity throughout each piece of work. I added text in that made it look professional and used the HMV logo to show the sorts of places the band would sell their music. But after reviewing my magazine advert, I realized that less and less people buy music from shops and so decided to take the logo off. HMV has since gone into administration. I feel all the color and texts used match the Indie-Pop genre we intended on. After looking through the whole of my font again, I realized that the black font made it look unprofessional and hard to read, and so changed the font to match the color of the font on the back of the Digi-Pack. it also matched the color outlining the band logo.
Fran's Final Digi-Pack
This is my final Digi-pack. I went with simple text and vibrant pictures. For the CD, I went with a very simple design. I embossed the dark color on Photoshop, and added a slight gradient. I researched into Indie CD's and found that all of them used simple backgrounds, with their band name being the main focus. Throughout the Digi pack I have used similar colors and made sure the band logo is the main focus. After reviewing my Digi-pack, I realized my back cover looked highly unprofessional and deiced to take direct inspiration from Vampire Weekends back cover and just use font. I have also moved the band logo down so you can see Will's face more, this creates more focus. I also added a bigger border around the main logo, which makes it a lot easier to read and is eye-catching. I also added a border of the wood around and on the CD which creates continuity.
Fran's Final Digi-pack Band Logo
I have gone for a very simple text, one that clearly matched my genre. The white will draw attention to the name, and I feel the font style looks professional and can be easily recognized
Fran's Final Digi-Pack Inside Cover
For my inside cover I wanted to show off pictures of the lead singer. I had the idea of doing it in a Photobooth style. Our music video has a huge fun element to it, and by making Will pull funny faces, I felt I was matching the video, keeping the continuity. I again changed the brightness and contrast to match my other Digi-pack pictures.
Fran's Final Digi-Pack Back Cover
For the back cover, I originally used as similar image as my front cover, to make sure there is continuity between all of the CD overs. The picture is again taken in the same wood as the one we filmed in for our music video. But after much consideration I felt the text and the image looked flat and together looked very unprofessional. My main inspiration was from Vampire Weekends Back cover that i had researched. I used only font and enlarged each text to make it the same size line as the next. I feel it creates a unique and interesting feel, while using indie conventions.

Fran's Magazine Mock-up
For my magazine, I have decided to use the same image as my album cover and have it as the main background picture. I feel this will establish that the advert for my band 'Beyond Metro' and creates continuity throughout my music video, Digi-Pack and the magazine advert. I will have their website address at the bottom, so this connects social networking sites (as there would be links for them found on there). This helps people to listen and learn about the band in an easy way. I will have quotes from magazine articles placed on top of the image as after my research I found that this is what most bands do and I am trying to make it as professional as possible. The band logo will be the main focus of the whole advert to draw attention and establish immediately who the advert is advertising. As it is an advert, I will also have text about the album, the date it is coming out on, the album name and perhaps where it is being sold.
Fran's Digi-Pack Mock-up
For my Digi-Pack, I decided after my research I wanted the main image to be the focus of the album. I want the album to revolve around the image, with it being in the style of indie, to match our music genre. The band logo and album title will be in the centre of the album, this will also grab people attentions and know immediately who's album it is. I think having text in the middle of the album cover also matches the conventions of the indie-pop album, and this was used throughout my research. For my back cover I am going to keep with the rule of thirds and have my song titles on the right hand side of the cover. I am going to have a similar picture for my back cover as I did for my front, as I think will create continuity. I am making sure that I use similar colours throughout my Digi-pack, again, to keep continuity. I am adding a bar code and copyright disclaimer as this was done on all of the CD covers I researched and I want to make mine as professional as possible. My inside cover will be made up of the lead singer pull faces and smiling in the style of a photo booth as I feel this matches the fun feel to both the music video and song choice. I also think the genre of Indie-pop never takes it self to seriously and the cover will match this. My CD is going to be quite plain and only match by a couple of colours i have picked from the rest of the album. Overall, I want my Digi-Pack to be simple and keep the style of Indie-pop.
Fran's Final Two Font Ideas
These are my final two font ideas, Code light and Britannic Bold. I feel both fonts fit with the simple style of all of the Indie albums i have researched. I think both texts are simple and effective, which is the overall feel I am wanting to create for my Digi-Pack. I think I am going to go with Brittanic bold, based on the fact that the text is bigger, bolder and more eye catching.
Fran's Magazine Advert Research
For the magazine advert I looked at the same two bands, and realized that they use the same image for the poster as they do as their album artwork. I am definitely going to do this for my poster, as I want to make it the most professional and realistic. I am going to take the idea of using the main album picture with large text over it again to keep with the indie pop style. Through both of these posters you can see the colour used are eye-catching, something that I am definitely going to use in my final advert.
Fran's Digi-Pack Research
After looking through Indie album covers, I saw a theme of using a strong image with bold writing. The picture they use either directly relates to their album name, as seen with the Florence and Machine album or the image is very unrelated, which is what Two Door Cinema Club choose to do. With my Digi-Pack, I want to go down this similar route so I keep the style of indie pop throughout my research and planning. I think my image will directly relate to the music video, with the picture being of the lead singer in a wood, in his party clothes. I like the way in Two Door Cinema Clubs album, the band logo is in the centre of the cover, this is something that I want to do with mine.
