Shooting Schedule

We plan to film all of our shots in Stretton Wood on Friday 5th October.

Facebook Event

As a group we decided to create an event on Facebook in order to invite people along to the filming of our video. The concept of our video requires many people to feature in in to ensure that the party looks realistic and 'full.' We chose to use facebook as a way of inviting people as all of friends are on facebook and we thought that connecting with them through a social networking site would allow all the information for the filming to be given in one go and we would be able to contact a wide amount of people. It has also allowed us to see who will be attending and therefore how many people we can expect and if we need to invite any others.

Update

After going to do the location shots we realised that our performance space has no source of electricity. As we want to shoot the video towards the evening when it is getting dark we feel we need lights to light the set. We enquired about hiring a generator from a national company but reliased that the price was too high. We then asked the site manager at our college if he had any contacts for generators which we could use and he has come back to us with one that we can hire for the day at a lower price through our college. We are just waiting on the confirmation. If all goes ahead we are filming on Friday 5th October in Stretton Wood.

We have also recently bought a light that attaches to the camera which we can use for close ups of people when it gets dark.

Costume Ideas

As the song is indie pop, we want the whole band to wear happy colours, while still looking indie. This would mainly consist of skinny jeans and band/logo t-shirts.

LEAD SINGER: We want him to stand out from the rest of the band. For example, we think he should be wearing dark skinny jeans, with either a graphic tee or a shirt buttoned (cheque or plain) all the way up to the top. We would maybe consider him wearing sunglasses.

GUITAR PLAYER: This member of the band would be wearing a trilby hat with a plain white t-shirt. Again we would want him to wear black skinny jeans, but with a cool denim jacket.

KEY BOARD PLAYER: We would want the key board player to wear a cool jumper with a shirt buttoned up underneath. He would wear this with either chinos or skinny jeans.

For all of these roles we have been able to get our friends to perform for us. James and Nick will become the guitar player and key board player. After much consideration, we have chosen Will (a member of our group) to be the leader singer. We feel he has the look, confidence and style to pull of being the lead singer. Being part of our group also means he understand what the role entails and how he needs to perform.

Final Idea

For our final idea we have chosen to film our music video in a wood. We will feature the band playing and performing in the wood as well as having actors pretending to be having a party in the wood amongst the band. We feel that this is an imaginative idea however is still simple for the audience to follow as well as being something that we will be easily able to film. We will use various shot compositions and camera shots in order to make this a high quality video and interesting to the viewer.

Eyeworth Wood, New Forest

The song that we are using is Scouting For Girls, 'She's So Lovely'. We all like this song and are familiar with it and we also feel that this is a fun, jovial and entertaining song to create a music video for. This is the original music video for this song which we will be sure to not copy, however it has given us some ideas for the type of shots and camera angles to use.

Audience Research

For our audience research we interviewed various people, asking them questions relating to music videos in order to discover what sorts of music videos people like. This will help us to decided what music video to create.

From our Audience Research we discovered that our target audience (teenagers and young adults) mainly prefer to see a narative in music videos. They want them to be fun, uplifting and happy rather than dark and depressing. Some did however say that they enjoy the perfrormance element of music videos and we will take this into account and try to incorporate both into our final video. We also discovered that they are more attracted to music videos that are current and keep up with current trends in bothe music and fashion.
