Digi-Pack Analysis
Digi-Pack Ideas
These are some of the practice ideas that i made for my digi-pack. We have chosen the band name 'beyond metro' as we feel it suits our style and genre. I dont really like the black and white idea as although it looks nice, i feel it is too simple. I also feel that it gives the album a more serious feel, which is not the idea that i want. I really like the idea of using a photograph of Will, our lead singer, in front of party poppers/balloons/streamers. I like this as i feel that it reflects the fun vibe of our videa as well as linking directly to the music video. I also want to use some pictures taken in the wood, either on my back cover or the inside sleeve as this will link both to the location of the video as well as our indie-pop genre.
Whilst designing my digi-pack i have been experimenting with various fonts to use. I have decided that i will use the same font throughout, on the front, the back, the CD and the poster. I needed to find a font that fitted with the indie-pop genre and the light hearted, fun theme of the video. I really liked all of the 4 fonts above but felt that the first and third ones were too simple for a digi-pack. Although i liked the secound font, my peers agreed that it is a little to harsh and 'blocky' for the feel of the video. Therefore, I have chosen to use the bottom one as i feel that this will fit with the theme of the video more. I wil experiment with adding a white border around the text in order to ad more depth to the font and make it less harsh.
For my front cover i decided i wanted party poppers going off in the background, something which directly links to theme of a party in our videos. I chose to use party poppers as these are bright colours and i felt that these would be best to show the fun and young element of our video. I experimented with various ways of taking the photos including laying the poppers out on paper, hanging them up as well as taking pictures of them actually going off. In the end i chose to use one of the ones of the poppers laid out on paper. This allowed me to have most control over the shot as i was able to lay the streamers out how i wanted them, ensuring that the page was full whislt still looking natural.
Front Cover Mock Up
Back Cover Mock Up
I will use the same background image of party poppers on the back that i used on the front in order to keep continuity within my digi-pack. I will then centralise the track list so that this is easily readable and can be seen clearly. I have decided to put copyright information for the CD at the bottom as from my research of digi-packs i found that this was common and therefore it would make my album look more professional. I will then put a barcode in the bottom right-hand corner as this is again a common feature of a professional album cover.
Inside Sleeve Mock Up
For my inside sleeve I will again use the background image of the party poppers to keep the consistent continuity throughout the digi-pack. I will then add the band name around the outside of the image to represent the band. I wanted to keep the inside sleeve simple as the rest of the digi-pack is so bright and eye catching.

Magazine Advert Mock-Up
Front Cover Mock Up
For my digi-pack i will use a background image of party poppers and then place a picture of the lead singer on top of this. I feel that this links in directly to our music video which has a fun, light hearted, party feel. I will then place the band name at the top of the cover making it easily recognisable to fans. I wont put anything else on the album cover to avoid it looking cluttered.
Inside Sleeve Mock Up
CD Mock Up
For my CD i will again use the image of the party poppers in order to keep continuity throughout the digi-pack. This will mean that the CD is bright and exciting instead of being plain and boring, which CD's often are. I will place the band name 'Beyond Metro' at the top of the CD in the same font used on the front and back cover in order to keep continuity and ensure that the audience can easily recognise whose CD it is.
Magazine Advert Mock-Up
I have planned my magazine advert and i feel that this will be a clear and consice way of advertising my album as well as looking professional and interesting to the viewer. I will use a background image of party poppers and then place an image of the lead singer over the top so that it links directly to the music video. I have put the band name at the top so that it is easily recognisable but the main aspect of the advert will be the picture of the lead singer. I will keep any text short and concise so that the advert does not become too cluttered and is still easy to read and understand.
Front Cover Photos
I cropped this photo of the streamers in order to remove the inconsistent background and then i changed the brightness and contrast. This made the colous more bright and allowed them to 'pop' more, making the picture more fun and bold. I also intend to use this photo on the front and back of the my digi-pack as i feel that this would be the best way of keeping continuity in my work.
This is the photo i have chosen to use on the front cover of my digi-pack. I intend to cut will out from the background, in order to place him on the above picture of the party poppers. I will also change the brightness and contrast of the photo to make it look more professional and use the spot healing tool in order to improve the quality of the photo.
How I Made My Front Cover
This is my final digi-pack. I am really pleased with how it turned out and feel that it fits the genre and theme of our music video as well as looking professional. I chose to use the image of the party poppers on both the front and the back in order to keep continuity throughout my digi-pack. I chose to keep the inside sleeve and CD simple however ensured that I still used the party poppers image in order to keep continuity throughout my digi pack. I feel that my digi-pack fits with the fun, young and energetic feel of our indie pop music video.
Final Magazine Advert
For my magazine advert i chose to use the same images that i used on my front cover. After researching into various bands we discovered that this was a common technique in order to keep the continuity as well as making the band and album easily recognisable. As the background was bright and busy i chose not to add too much text for fear of overcrowding the page, i wanted any writing to be clear and easily legible.
