Will's Indie Pop Mood Board
I wanted to find inspiration for my coursework so I decided to create a mood board that could help me in both my music video and my digi pack. from researching I found that the autumnal look was very in with a lot of the photos being saturated. I found that most albums were very full and colourful, they were also very fun.
i looked at a well known indie music video which was cops and robbers by the Hoosiers and analysed it to help the group when it came to creating our own music video.
my As level media from Jordan Louis-Fernand on Vimeo.
I wanted to analysis a indie digi pack and decided to use the well know indie pop band Bombay Bicycle Club. This in turn would help when creating my own digi pack as I could use ideas found and link them in with my own style.
I have done some reasearch into what indie bands use which I belive will help when it comes to creating my own digi pack and music video.
After doing research into adverts for musicians I found some of my favourites and decided to make a mood board to help with inspiration and ideas when it came to making my own.

I have done a moodboard into some well known bands album which will help me with well known colour schemes and font types.
I looked at a variety of different fonts and with the help of my peers was able to narrow it down to three. I wanted my digi pack to have a quirky yet simple font which will help make it stand out. I wanted it to be bold and contrast well with the image which was a technique I found used with other indi from covers. I decided to use the middle font as although the others were quirky they did not
interact as well with the image.
interact as well with the image.
Ideas for my digi pack. I wanted to get some of the ideas in my head down on paper so I decided to use images found online to help show what I was thinking i could use for my digi pack. I first looked at an idea of using illustration which I believed would be different to other indie digi packs. I decided that to link the idea in with my theme I would sketch a picture of a tree and have the branches spilling out across the front cover, for this I decided that using a black font would work well as it would link in well with he image. I also looked at turing my image into sepia which I found had not been done often giving mine a unique twist. I tried placing the picture of the singer onto of the image which although I liked I found it very time consuming and messy to cut out the image. to solve this issue I have decided to take a photograph of myself in my chosen environment (the forest) and then add the sepia tome when editing on photoshop. I also wanted to explore the aspect of using different colours as this was a bit different to the conventional photograph. I found that black and red were two colours that contrasted well together and therefore thought they would make a great front cover drawing in the chosen audience.
I wanted to look at using a font colour which would work well with my chosen colour scheme used for my main image. I used a tool on photoshop to select one of the colours found in the shirt I was wearing, this I believed would help blend both image and text together. although I liked this colour I found that it did not fit aswell with my chosen genre. I then went on to look at black and white which from my AS coursework I found worked well with almost anything. I looked at other indie texts and found that white was a colour that was sometimes used, I believed that by using white I would stick to my genre and help the audience determine what the artist genre was.
Idea for front cover of my digi pack. I wanted to try something slightly different so i wanted to look at adding new colours into the image. I wanted to use colours that would link in with the genre and the theme so therefore thought that green was an interesting colour to work with. I also used a tool which helped me change the colour of my shirt which although I liked I thought the original colours worked better with the autumnal theme. I defiantly thought this idea would be great if my genre was more dance pop, which I believe is quirky.
Idea for front cover of my digi pack
Although I like this idea I beleve that it does not fit with my genre, the black and red although contrasts well links in more with a rock genre. I like the position of of the text as it stands out without taking the focus away from the image. i wanted to try out the black and white effect as from my research into Bombay Bicycle Club found that it worked well. I believe the black and white however makes the theme more dark which does not link with our music video as that is suppose to be a happy party atmosphere.
This is one of my favourite Ideas as I believe the font and colour schemes are simple yet work well and are interesting to the eye. I like the bold font used and the colour scheme of black and white which from my research I found was a convention often used.
I decided to experiment with the position of the font. I have kept the font colour and style, I also wanted to make the B bigger as it draws attention to the text before looking at what the image is.
Ideas for my back cover
I would like my back cover to link with the front therfore I have decided that I will use a picture of a forest, although I have used a picture of myself on the front I would like to use a differant image for the back. I have decided that I will add an effect on to help make mine stand out from other indie album covers and link in with my autumnal theme.

This is my main idea for my poster although I really like the effect used i believe it does not link with my chosen theme as much and does not give the autumn party feel.
Ideas for CD Mock up
I really like my idea for my CD cover as I believe it is simple yet effective. I have chosen a dark red as it fits in well with the autumnal theme which I have used on both my digi pack and my magazine advert. I have chosen the colour white as I have used this colour throughout, I wanted to incorporate the band name on the CD and thought that by using the duplicate tool I would bring both colour and text together.
These are four of my favourite colour ideas for my CD. I wanted to make sure that the colour linked and kept continuity, to make sure I did this I decided to use colours that were likely to be found in a autumnal wood. my favourite is the top right as it reminds me of leaves from a wood scene linking in well with our music video.
From my research I liked this digi pack front cover, I wanted to use it as inspiration to help me gain the best possible outcome. I decided that i would try and use the simple yet bold font which linked in well with my font ideas, i would also like to used the white colour which I found was used in some Indie albums however was slightly different giving mine a new unique look. I will also edit my photo to give it a bright effect, this in turn links in well with my indie theme. I like how the photo is simple with the photo and picture working well together. from my research into indie albums I found bright colours are often used which will help mine stand out from other albums.
This is the mock up ideas for my digi pack. The top right is of the front cover where I have placed both pieces of text central which I believe links best to my research and planning into indie digi packs. The top right is of my inside cover where the main image takes up the whole cover,I have placed the text at the bottom as I believe it is not as important giving the image the main focus. The bottom image is of the back cover where I have decided to place the song title on the right hand side and then the main image on the right which using the rule of thirds helps connect both text and image.
I am undecided as to which photo I will use for my inside cover as I like the one bellow due to the interesting colours however believe it does not 100% link to my chosen style therefore I think I will use the one above editing it so it links with he rest of my digi pack.
These are the raw photos that I will be using for my Digi pack and poster. I have chosen these photos due to them linking in well with my idea and my genre. I have used pictures of Myself as I am the lead singer in the music video, I have also used a picture of a tree for my inside cover which links in well with the idea used in the music video. the tire swing links in well with our music video as we used one similar it also shows the fun aspect which which we tried to get across in our party scenes. I am also in the same outfit which shows that the song and album link to the music video.
I have taken a screen shot of the back cover of my digi pack.
I have taken a screen shot of how I created the inside cover to my digi pack.

I have taken a screen shot of how I created my advert for a magazine.
I have chosen this image due to the setting linking in well with my chosen genre and music video. I have positioned myself In the centre to draw in the audience, the text has also been placed in the centre which helps make it stand out to my chosen audience.
I have used inspiration and other magazine adverts to create my own advert for my indie artist. I have tried to make it unique and interesting to the eye.
